GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE
- The Best Homemade German Chocolate Cake is a wonderfully delicious
combination of chocolate cake, coconut and pecans! Perfect decadent dessert for
chocolate lovers!
INGREDIENTS
o 2 cups granulated sugar
o ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
o 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
o 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
o Pinch of salt
o 1½ cups all-purpose flour
o 2 eggs
o ½ cup oil, vegetable or canola
o 1 cup buttermilk
o 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
o 1 cup boiling water
For the Coconut- Pecan
filling:
o ½ cup unsalted butter
o 1 cup brown sugar
o 3 egg yolks
o ½ cup evaporated milk
o 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
o 1 cup chopped pecans
o 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
For the chocolate
filling:
o ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
o ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
o 3 cups powdered sugar
o ⅓ cup evaporated milk
o 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
To make cake:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Grease two 9-inch round baking pans, line with
parchment paper or waxed paper, set aside
3. In a large bowl, stir together granulated
sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt and all-purpose flour
4. In a separate bowl, combine the eggs,
buttermilk, oil and vanilla extract, mix well
5. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and
mix to combine
